From the Mouth of Babes

I stole this from Karly's blog... it was just too good not to. During this time of hussle and bussle... it is just good to sometimes sit back and remember what this time is all about. I know I forget often and need reminding... this video is a great reminder.

I Gotta Feeling

This is just awesome !!!

Stupid Fork

It's funny how you can be so blessed.... yet bitch about life so easily. Most of the time, I don't mind being single... and not having my own family. But, at times that emptiness will peek it's head around the corner and laugh at me. I was taking my niece and nephews to see Santa last week and it hit me... I might not ever have my own kids to bring to see Santa. It hurts !! More now than usual. It seems that the holidays as of late bring this out in me. Which just sucks... cause I love the holidays. But, my siblings are both with their families... starting traditions... and me... well I am here. And.. I love, love, love the Christmas cards... but, still hard. Now, I am not writing this to get a pity party.... just venting some sadness. I mentioned it to my family cause I was in the depressed, quiet, state for a couple of days... my dad said I should get a baby. Honestly, I have thought about it... whether through adoption, or insemination... But, when I think about it, I just don't feel completely right bringing a child in this world without a father. Every baby deserves a chance at that. So, I just get stuck.... stuck at the fork in my road. Now mind you... I do eventually get over this. Right now, I am climbing over that fork as we speak... I can see the other side of the road.... and I see all the fantastic blessings I have in my life. I know I do. Andal reminded me of the great families that let me baby their babies. I also get to baby many babies in my career.

So when I reach that fork... I just have to remind myself of these things. I still have a long life and after life to live.... and somewhere on that road... someday I will take my own child to see Santa !!

The Whole Gang Was There

This Thanksgiving we all ended up at Carter and Tammi's beautiful new house in Cedar. It was not a dull moment... since we were all... I mean ALL there :) It was loud, it was rude, it was funny, it was yummy, it was smelly, and it was great !!

These are a Few of My Favorite Things...

Well... it's that time of year again. Seriously, time flies !! The older I get, the more it flies. I just got done putting up my 8 million trees.. as Clark would say, "A little sap in here". And now, I am moving on to the outside...which should take me forever !! As I have been decorating, I have been thinking why do we do this to ourselves.... or I guess I should ask... Why do I do this to myself? :) The more I thought about it, I realized it is the consistency, the tradition, the familiarity of things that happen at Christmas that makes it so special to all of us. So I thought about the important traditions or familiarities I enjoy this time of year... Here they are in no particular order... I would love to know some of yours too !! :)

Christmas Flannel Sheets

Hot Cocoa/Caramel Apple Cider

Cinnamon Scented Pine Cones

Watching "Christmas Vacation" as I decorate the tree !!

Seeing the word "Believe" everywhere !! My favorite phrase/word !!

Neil Diamond Christmas Album !! Come on it's the best one !! :)

Thinking about Mary.... I just admire her complete faith with giving birth to Christ. She amazes me !!

Santa Claus.. I still believe in him and everything he stands for... and I have about 80 Santa's that I put up every year !! :)

My Dad's prime rib !!

Last minute Christmas Shopping... It seems every year my Pops forgets or thinks he doesn't have enough gifts so we shop late... I love it. Also every year I go after Christmas shopping with my sista !!

Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark

Still Good Nose Pickers

I have never been one to get my nails done... the most I did it was for a formal dance when I was in high school. Plus, I just didn't like the way it felt and I couldn't pick my nose well with them. :) Two of my closest friends have always gotten their nails done... and now they have rubbed off on me. I am a nail whore.. and of course, I try to find the most obnoxious designs to do on my nails.... my latest is cheetah print....

Gotta love the animal print !!! I found this pic of toes that I want to do next...

Seriously, into animal print lately. But, what I have found now that I started doing my nails.. is that I can still pick my nose.. if I keep them short.. and I love my nail lady Gerri... She is a hoot !!

What in the Sam Hell?

First of all, who is this Sam ??? Second of all, started watching Adam's performance on the American Music Awards... what in the hell? I mean I love his voice... but now, that performance just ruined it for me. We all know that he is gay, that is his choice, I wasn't going to let that affect me liking his music, or how hot he is... but now, I just can't look at him the same... He went over the top !! Too much of the gayness for me to watch on television... he lost my vote... kinda sad...

Cruisin With Tessa

Since Tessa came along... there is an added benefit to cruisin' around. One of my favorite things to do, is turn around say her name... and see those bright brown eyes look into mine and smile. She is growing so fast, and is a constant happy point in my life !!

Racks or Rocks?

The other day I was at my desk, just working away, and I looked up at my board and noticed that one of my students wrote something by my name. At first glance, I thought it said "Miller Racks".. Then I realized that it's "Miller Rocks". I chuckled to myself... cause "Racks" would have fit too !! :)

Gettin' Paid for Service

This year at school I decided to be an advisor to another club. The club is called Interact and works with the Rotary Club doing service for the community. I mean seriously... you can never go wrong with service. Although, I kinda feel guilty cause I am getting paid to be the advisor... so I am not really serving. But, my great kids that signed up for the club are !! On Halloween morning, they woke up bright and early and went to help with the Monster Mash Run in Coral Canyon. I captured some great acts of service they did. Just watching service take place.... made me feel happy.. paid or not paid !! :) I am thinking we might do the Soup Kitchen on Thanksgiving Morning... Watcha think?

Merry Scaring

Halloween for me began on Friday and ended on Saturday night. I wasn't much into dressing up this year... I don't know kinda been Boo Humbugging lately. :) I didn't even put my decorations up !! I know blasphemy for me !! So besides that weirdness... here is a lowdown of my "Merry Scaring" festivities. First, I got to play a witch in one of our pep assemblies. The kids said I was a natural. :) I got the hackle down !! On Friday at school I had some cute and scary visitors. McConnell my favorite math teacher loves Star Wars... so he dressed up as Darth Maul. He snuck in my room when I wasn't paying attention and scared the crap out of me !! Friday night was our first playoff game the boys won and did a great job. Gotta love Flyer Football !! Saturday morning I woke up early to go to the "Monster Mash" to help my Interact Club do some service. More pics of that to come later. Then, me and Tessa Rou went over to Michelle's to chill with the fam for awhile. I then had a great time shopping with Shell and her sisters... Then went Trunk or Treating and dinner with Tessa, Stace, and Pops which was yummy. By the time I got home, I was exhausted.. I seriously fell asleep at like 10.... I am getting old !!

Thrilled Again

Another year of Halloween... another year of "Thriller". Angia came down and we went with my sista, Charlay, and his family to the show. As always, we loved it !! I forgot my camera though. :( One of my favorite new skits they did was a tribute to Michael Jackson. Not very Halloweeny, but still much needed. Five guys came out dressed like MJ and danced to one of his slow songs. They mirrored all the moves beautifully. During the dance, some little kids ran out and did the moonwalk. At the end of the dance, each MJ danced off the stage until their was one left... then a spotlight showed at the back of the stage.. Where the "King" Elvis Presley was waiting for Michael. He walked to him, embraced him, and they walked off the stage together. It was just awesome... I bahled. I got to go to the show again last night with my pops. It was freezing !! Snowing !! But, the show went on. I really wanted pops to see it. I don't know if he liked it a whole lot.. but I think there were parts that he enjoyed and was surprised he did. He is not big on the whole dancing thing. :) Thanks pops for going with me !! I love this show... and can't wait till next year !!

So as one that was raised by and lived with jocks !!! I always thought that guys who dance are gay... and it was just not attractive to me at all.. Now though, I have changed my thoughts on that... thanks to this show, and watching "So You Think You Can Dance." Now, the better a guy can leap and twirl.. the sexier I think he is. But, ballet... um still no !! This is one of the dancers in Thriller. He is my favorite... when he does the mummy dance... um.. and shakes his buns... um.. yah !! :)

Feeling Gleeful

K... Seriously, I am loving this show. It makes me laugh my ass off.. and then there is just great singing and dancing. I have put one of my favorite clips below:

Spooktacular !!

Stace and I had a blast at Disneyland. We left late afternoon on Wednesday and got to our hotel late that night. We were so excited we woke bright and early to get there when it opened at nine. We actually had to wait in line to get our bags checked. We have never been that on time before. The first ride we headed to was Ghost Galaxy. They changed Space Mountain into a scary Halloween treat. Scared the crap out of me... Scary music, and weird ghost faces and hands grabbing me. Then we went throughout the whole park enjoying are day. We were so excited... we stayed the first day for thirteen hours !! HA !! To end the night we watched the Halloween Fireworks show. Disneyland has always had fireworks since I can remember, but now they incorporate the castle with the fireworks. Lights shine all over the castle, as music is used to incorporate themes. It was awesome !! We topped of the show with a funnel cake from Frontierland. The next day we were so pooped.. and it was so hot.. we didn't stay as long. But, all in all, it was good times. We made it home late Friday night in one piece. Which is kinda a miracle since Stace drove half the way... can't drive stick, and can't see at night. Of course I found this out after the fact !! :) Thanks my sista for a great time !

I am Nesting

Okay so... I don't have my own kids... so I borrow other peoples. :) Here are two close and dear to my heart. Um... is it too much to ask.. that maybe one day they get hitched... and I kinda get some grandbabies !! Yah.. I don't know... just a thought. In the meantime.. I will enjoy when they come over to hang out and make me laugh.

ZZ Top Cutie

It has been awhile ago.... but I am still catching up on my posting... Chris and Lauren had their second baby.. "Zaniyah Lynn". For the longest time, we couldn't pronounce her name. So Stace and I started calling her ZZ Top. When Lauren started going into labor, Stace text me and said, "ZZ Top is coming !!". :) Now I got the the pronunciation down cause I just rhyme it with Shania Twain. But, all kidding aside, she is adorable. I am grateful for Chris, Lauren, and the girls being a part of my family. They are great parents, and I am lucky to have them around !!

My Chunky Monkey

My latest obsession are the "Chunky Monkey's" at Perks. Blended chocolate, caramel, hazelnut icee goodness... topped with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Um... as if I needed any help in the "chunky" area. So now next to my Diet Pepsi will from here on out be an empty cup of "Chunky Monkey".

Diva or Not?

Glitter TextGlitter TextGlitter TextGlitter Text

Okay... so I am a little bugged... It seems somewhere along the lines of my teaching career, the students at Dixie High School have labeled me a Diva. Um... I really don't know how I feel about this. Last year, when I won "Most Dramatic Teacher" I was a little perplexed. And, now for our Sadies Assembly, the kids want me to be Tyra Banks. My response was... "Um, you guys know I am not black right?" And their response was... "Well yah Miller but you are a Diva like her." K, WHAT ???!!! I mean I know I have my brand name purses and sunglasses and my bling bling jewelry. K, that way I might be a Diva... but, Diva's are bratty right? Am I bratty????.... Moody and bossy maybe... but bratty? Oh man, I even started liking Beyonce recently. Haha.. yah I am a Diva.. just writing this post answers that question for me !! Good hell !!

Can I Get an Amen !!

I am Mormon... not always a good one.. but am one that believes in the teachings and leaders of our church. Mormon's aren't known to stand up and sing hallelujah at church, or stand up and shout "AMEN" during a sermon. Our way of shouting an "AMEN" is crying, or patting someone on the back after a good testimony is bourne. But, in all honesty sometimes I wish I could just stand up and shout "AMEN" at the top of my lungs... or dance to "We Thank Thee O God For a Prophet" with the congregation. Well, I did just that this past weekend by myself while watching conference. We have hero's in our church... great speakers.. whose sermons have been recorded in our scriptures. I have always pictured these men as they speak... King Benjamin's stern, but loving face... Samuel the Lamanite showing no fear, as arrows spiral past him. I have envied at times the people that were able to be there and actually see these great men's faces as they spoke with such conviction. Well, this past weekend.. I got to see such a face !! Elder Holland's speech blew me away !! I mean, he did not mince words. He THREW DOWN !!! I loved it !! What a great testimony and conviction of the Book of Mormon he portrayed. I was clapping, jumping out of my couch dancing, crying with joy, and humbled into submission. So, for once I was able to shout... "AMEN" and do a jig... and I realized (stupid me) that I get to see great men.. like King Benjamin, and Samuel.. speak all the time. Now if I can just follow what is said better !! :)
